Sound-proofing and some accessories

Went AutoBacs about three weeks ago and got ourselves a car shampoo, a sponge, a duster and a sound-proof mat.

This is the sound-proof mat that we got from AutoBacs. Original price is $30 but its on 50% sale. Our purpose for getting this mat is not to do sound-proofing but to protect the outter surface of the bonnet from the intense heat coming from underneath generated by the engine.

Measurement of the mat. Its big enough to fit two Picanto bonnets. It comes with adhesives on the other side of the mat already. The adhesive is very strong.

Final product of the DIY project. The underside of the bonnet is now lined with a layer of the sound-proof mat.

Another picture from another angle.

This is a picture of the rear hatch door (without the grey plastic cover).

I used the grey plastic cover taken from the hatch door as a template for me to cut the mat into size for the hatch.

Conslusion of sound-proofing:
This DIY sound-proofing mat cannot be compared to those used by the professionals. The professionals uses rubber mat and this DIY mat is made of fabric. But my main idea is still to protect the paint-work on the bonnet. The sound-proof works better for the rear hatch as I can feel the sub being more solid. Maybe because the sound doesn't escape anymore. The bonnet and the rear hatch also shut with a more solid "thud" sound.

I also did a mod on the stock air-intake.

This is a picture of the stock air-intake assembly.

I loosened the connector from the joint by loosening the nut.

The duck mouth shaped intake was removed easily.

The final prodcut. This mod will allow more air to be easily intoduced into the engine. This improves Moby's pick-up and low end. Moby's engine also "roared" a little more louder. Fierce!

Got this visor pouch from Drivers Corner yesterday. Comes in handy for storing cards, parking coupons, pens, small notebook, etc.

Moby finally broke his voice. Got him a pair of horns from Hella. He is now screaming even louder!

View of one of the horn from the outside. Fierce hor?

The other horn is fitted inside due to the limited space in the engine bay.
